Negombo is a coastal city located on the west coast of Sri Lanka, about 37 kilometers (23 miles) north of Colombo, the capital city. It's a major city in the Western Province and a popular destination for both local and international travelers. One of our key stops will be the Negombo Fish Market — A Thriving Fishing Culture. Fishing boats begin to make their way to the beach laden with that morning’s catch. Shrimps, crabs, and lobsters are hunted at the famous Negombo Lagoon, while fresh fish is hauled in from the waves of the Indian Ocean.

After enjoying breakfast, your tour leader will give a short briefing on the day ahead. Before we journey to Sri Lanka's largest and oldest game reserve. We’ll spend the morning uncovering the highlights of Negombo.

Experience Sri Lanka’s most elusive wildlife in the vast seclusion of Wilpattu National Park. Occupying a vast swathe of land bordering the copper-sand beaches of the north west coast, the ancient ruins of the Cultural Triangle and the Northern Province, this is Sri Lanka’s largest and oldest game reserve. Home to myriad endemic species, the park fosters sensational bird life, Asian Elephants, Sri Lankan Leopards, and Sri Lankan Sloth Bears.

Check in to the hotel and at 03.00 PM enjoy the remarkable game drive at  Wilpattu National Park. After visiting, you will be transferred to the hotel, where the rest of the evening is yours to relax or explore at your own pace

After an early breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Mannar to the Historical Mannar Island.

Mihintale, the “Cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura. It is believed to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk “Mahinda”, son of Asoka, Emperor of India, and King Devanampiyatissa, which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. The climb to Mihintale is not strenuous – it takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes through a magnificent, wide, ancient stone stairway. After breakfast, visit the Ancient Kingdom of Anuradhapura.

Proceed to Anuradhapura and visit the Ancient Kingdom of Anuradhapura - The first capital of Sri Lanka from the 04th Century B.C. to the end of the 10th Century A.D. Anuradhapura consists of more than a dozen archeological sites. The most significant sites are the 3 largest man-made stupas in Sri Lanka, which are the second largest man-made structures in the world after the pyramids of Egypt. Then, Sri Maha Bodhi, a Sacred Bo Tree which is said to have grown from a branch of the tree under which the Buddha gained Enlightenment.

Check out the hotel and proceed to Dambulla. At 04.00 PM, visit Dambulla Cave Temple.

On completion, proceed to Dambulla and visit the Dambulla Cave Temple - The Dambulla Cave Temple is the largest and best-preserved rock cave temple complex in Sri Lanka, towering 160 m over the surrounding plains with more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area filled with ancient statues and paintings related to and depicting Lord Buddha and his life. The climb from the base is not difficult and can be done at a leisurely pace. Return to your hotel in Dambulla and enjoy the rest of the evening at your own pace.

Rise early at 05.30 am with a packed breakfast and proceed to Sigiriya Rock Fortress for an unforgettable Sunrise. Sigiriya Rock Fortress - The 5th century rock citadel of King Kasyapa and a World Heritage Site, Sigiriya not only boasts of ancient Sri Lankan engineering & urban planning supremacy but also claims to be one of the finest monuments of art & culture. Step through the gigantic 'Lion Paws' overlooking the symmetrical royal gardens below to comprehend the absolute splendor that once dominated this rock fortress. Surrounded by ramparts & moats, the Lion Rock resembles the mythological 'City of Gods' coated by frescoes that relate to Gupta style paintings found in Ajanta caves of India.

Visit a typical Sri Lankan village at 11.00 AM and enjoy a cookery demonstration with traditional, authentic Sri Lankan lunch. - Hiriwadunna is all about Sri Lankan village life. More than 60% of the trees are endemic, and many of them are considered rare. The Senanyake Reservoir – the largest body of water of its kind in Sri Lanka and home to huge herds of wild elephants – is incandescent with color at sunset. Sharp ribbons of shell-pink and king-coconut-orange shift seamlessly from sky to water. In the cooler hours before the sun goes down, Asia’s gentle giants are on the move, and an onlooker passing by boat might chance a peek at them as they shuffle out of the shade of the trees and down towards the banks of the water.

Gal Oya National Park is one of Sri Lanka’s undiscovered natural treasures. Jeep ride into the forgotten Nilgala section of the park, once the protectorate of ancient royalty for the abundant medicinal plants and endemic birdlife unique to this ecosystem. Although shy and sometimes hard to spot, the park hosts most of the animals found on the island. The Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens is the largest of the botanical gardens of Sri Lanka and the finest of its kind in Asia. In the Mediterranean climate of Kandy, the gateway to the central highlands, the Gardens lie at an elevation of 460 meters above sea level, tightly bounded on three sides by the loop of the River Mahaweli (Great Sandy River), Sri Lanka’s largest river.

The Ambuluwawa Tower is a unique and impressive tower located in the city of Gampola. The seven levels of the tower represent different aspects of Sri Lankan culture and history, including a garden, a children's play area, a library, a meditation center, a viewing platform, a restaurant, and a Buddhist temple. The tower is 48 meters tall and is built on seven levels, each with its own unique feature.
